Hello everyone,

A month went by and we went on quite a few field trips :) First of all, we celebrated the 17th of May (norwegian constitution day) at the Norwegian chuch in Rotterdam. It was really nice to meet other mixed couples and for Zo to play with some other kids.
I will add some pictures of the afternoon.

We also enjoyed quite some lovely weather, which resulted in taking a trip with one of the tourist boats on the canals of Amsterdam. Zo really enjoys boats!

The Wednesday before Ascension day we got our Polish friend Wlodek coming over for a day, which was really great. So we could spend time together on Thursday of which we spent a couple at the Zaansche Schans. What lucky we were with the weather again!!! And it was so nice to see Wlodek again, because it had been quite some time since we had seen eachother for the last time.

Unfortunately Cato and I are both a bit under the weather. Cato was sick last weekend, so Zoe and I went with the two of us to Nicolas birthday party. He is our three year old neighbour living opposite of us. His parents had organized a great hunt with different clues, which was really a lot of fun. At the end the kids found a giraffe full with candy. So you can imagine how happy Zo was with this :)

Unfortunately all of our activities did result most likely in very restless sleeping pattern of Zo. A couple of nights in a row she woke up crying and she was really restless. Fortunately things are going better this week.

And well, now I am actually sick. Yesterday I had quite some fever and today I am still not feeling all that. So I have decided to stay at home. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow again.
It's Eline's birthday and we have invited my mom and Eline to come over for dinner. So I do hope I am feeling better again.

I will load some new pictures.

April 2011

09 mei 2011
A lot has happened in April. It didn't start out very well unfortunately  Zo became sick in the first week of April and even worse it was in the same week I had to go to Seattle. So really bad timing.
She started throwing up on Friday evening and didn't eat until Friday,  because she diarrea as well. Fortuantely my mom and Eline were helping out so that Cato didn't have to do everything by himself. It was really shit though to be so far away, knowing she wasn't feeling well at all.
Also Cato's mom was doing not well at all. She had had another operation that seemed to have gone well, but after a couple of days she got much worse and was rushed back again to the hospital.
It was in the same week when I was in Seattle as well, so it resulted in turning home a day earlier. Fortunately after some adjustments, Eli got much better, so that was positive.

Also Cato was diagnosed with severe apneu (also in the same week by the way). So since last week he is actually sleeping with an oxygen mask and it seems to already give some relief and less pains in the morning. He will also have to take some other steps. So it is actually positive he has been diagnosed with something and something can be done about it.

Som so much for our first week of April

We have been having some wonderful weather though and that is really really great. We enjoy the garden tremendously again and we also setup a little bath for Zo (see pictures).
Actually I have started toddler swimming with Zo on Monday. We went three times and I think the third time she finally started to enjoy it a bit

We also visited the Keukenhof again, but we made a mistake by going on Saturday afternoon when the parade would take place as well. We actually had a plan to see the parade, but it was so extremely busy we decided not to afterall. Half of the Netherlands seemed to be there, so that wasn't a lot of fun.
But we did see a lot of beautiful flowers and Zo enjoyed the playground and feeding the swans :)

Easter was a lot of fun! The first day we went to 'lammetjes dag'. Particular farms in the Netherlands had opened their doors and had organized the opportunity to see little lams and touch them, plus see other farm animals. Besides the animals there was also a nice market and a cool jazz band playing. As it was great weather, it was really nice to sit there, have Zoe playing in the sand and just enjoy a drink and listen to the music.
In the afternoon we went to our neighbour for a birthday drink, which was really nice as well.
THe second Easter day, I had organized an American easter brunch at our place. We were with around 15 people and everyone had brought something nice, like great salads, home made tortilla's etc. It was really great food and company!
Sandrine and Rogier were also there with their son Max, who is one month younger than Zoe. It was really nice to see them play together.
And of course.. we had a easter egg search. :) They couldn't take too much time, because it was so warm. As they were chocolate eggs, we had to be quick.
Overall a wonderful Easter weekend!!

And last but not least.. in my last entry you could read about the search for a new bed for Zo. Well I found one and it was delivered last Friday. It is really a great bed, a big higher than usual, so she has to climb into it and it is a real 2.00m long bed. So I can actually sleep in it as well!
Zo loves it! I am really really proud of her, because she stays in her bed and hasn't come out yet. She also slept immediately well in it the first night. So it is really cool.
I haven't made any pictures yet, but I will do so shortly.

So, you are all updated again! :) I have uploaded a nice little film of Zo on the swing and I added a new photo album with pictures from April. Enjoy!

have a great month!

Mothers day

08 mei 2011
8th of May > Mothers day

Yesterday we celebrated Mother's day at a very nice location with oma, Eline and Friso  We went to the orchideeen hoeve in Luttelgeest. The flowers were beautiful and even more beautiful was their butterfly garden!!! In Artis they have a similar garden, however this one is much bigger and less quiet. It is definitely worthwhile to take the trip up! (from Amstelveen a bit more than an hour)

In the afternoon Cato, Zo and I went for the first time to the theatre together. It was really nice! Two actors played the book : de mol die wil weten wie er op zijn kop gepoept heeft.  So the mole who wants to know who pooped on his head.
It was an hour play and it was really fun. Zo enjoyed it a lot too.

I also went with Zo to the swimming pool again with ome Rups last week. And it seems I suddenly have a new child when it comes to water!  The first couple of times we went to the lesson, she didn't really like it very much. The last time before Easter, the floor was higher, so she could walk in the water herself and then it already went much better. When we went last week, she had so much fun and she didn't even want to leave!

And what else.... well, both Cato and I got new cars from our work. Cato has a big Mercedes and I have a big Toyota :) Good cars to go on vacation!

And these are the latest updates for now :)
